Most instances are created by Resolve while importing scan data. In some cases, such as during manual penetration testing, you might need to create instances manually.

  1. Open a workspace.
    1. From the top menu, select Workbench > Projects.
    2. Click the project entry.
    3. Click the Workspaces tab.
    4. To switch the workspace, click the displayed workspace name, then select the workspace.
  2. Select one of these options:
    • In the finding tree, right-click a node and select Add Manual Instance.

This pre-populates the master finding and variation based on the selected node.

    • Above the finding tree, click the Add Manual Instance icon (  ).

This does not pre-populate any information; you must manually select the master finding and variation.

  3. Select the workspace to add the instance to.
  4. If needed, select the master finding.
    1. Click Select a master finding.
Note: If master finding information is pre-populated, you can click the delete icon (  ) for the master finding, then click Select a master finding.
    2. Locate the master finding and click the Select button in the right-most column.
    3. Locate the variation and click the Select button in the right-most column.
  5. Select the asset.
    1. In the Asset Information area, click Add an asset.
    2. Locate the asset and click the Select button in the right-most column.
  6. (Optional) Modify the instance name.
  7. Select the state.
  8. (Optional) Enter or select details about the instance, such as affected properties.
  9. (Optional) Add one or more verification items.
    1. Click Paste or click to add a verification item.
    2. (Optional) Select Include in Report.
    3. Enter the name.
    4. Select the type of verification.
    5. In the Description field, enter or paste the verification information.
    6. Click Save.
  10. Click Add & Create New or Add Instance.
